In the final stage at Silverstone, the Aston Martin team took just six points, their worst result of the season. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are looking forward to more success this weekend in Hungary.
Fernando Alonso: “I think we made the most of a tough weekend at Silverstone. It’s been great playing for the British fans and spending time at the new base.
Now all our attention is on the race in Budapest. I have many fond memories of playing the Hungaroring. It was on this circuit that I took my first victory in Formula 1 in 2003 – exactly 20 years ago. In addition, I usually celebrate my birthday at this job. It’s a bit strange to celebrate in Belgium this year, but I hope we have a reason to celebrate this weekend as well.
Overtaking in Hungary is not easy, but unpredictable races sometimes happen because of the weather. We must be ready to seize every opportunity to score as many points as possible.”
Lance walk: “Hungaroring is a very technical track with many corners. The challenges the drivers and cars face here are very different from at Silverstone. Stylistically, the Hungaroring is more like a go-kart track with successive sharp turns and only one full straight. We hope these race ring features fit our AMR23.
It will be difficult to overtake, so we will try to find a good rhythm in practice to get a high result in qualifying.
Budapest is a beautiful city and the fans always create an incredible atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to the race.”
