After a series of setbacks due to car problems, Guanyu Zhou earned points in Canada for the second time in his Formula 1 career. The Chinese hope it gets even better…
Guanyu Zhou: “After what happened in the last races, I was very happy to see the finish flag. I had no idea how this weekend would end, we played on a track unknown to me, but in the end everything turned out okay.
On Saturday I went to the final of qualifying under difficult conditions and earned points in the race – this makes me optimistic for the next stages.
It was very important to overtake Vettel after the safety car started. It was a risky maneuver on my part, there was no normal grip on the outer radius, but I was able to move forward, which made my task much easier. I was very satisfied!
I’m slowly getting used to it. After Imola I enjoyed the atmosphere in the paddock. I’ve met everyone, I know everyone, I enjoy every stage. In Montreal I saw Chinese flags in the stands, I have a lot of fans all over the world – and I was happy to please them with points at the finish. On Sunday I gave them a reason to be proud!”
