Daniel Ricciardo was Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing from 2016 to 2018. The reigning world champion said in Hungary on Thursday that he had nothing against working with the Australian in the same team again.
Max Verstappen: “It is great that Daniel is back on the grid with our family. On the other hand, Nick de Vries and I are good friends, so it’s a shame he’s gone. Unfortunately, that’s how the world works. However, I don’t think there are any hard feelings between the riders. Daniel got the chance and I believe after a short rest he is ready to return.
In fact, I never wanted him to leave the team. We get on well with him and if Daniel shows himself well now, he will have the chance to return to the team. The question is open.”
Commenting on the innovations the engineers have prepared for the Hungarian podium, Max said: “They look good. The purpose of updates is to make the car faster, but if they make it even more beautiful, then that’s great. New items should help us add to the corners.
This weekend we certainly don’t think we can win the twelfth race in a row, but if we do, we will set a new record. But it’s more important that we win.”
