Charles Leclerc explained what, in his opinion, the main weaknesses of the Ferrari car are related to – they appear in windy conditions, and this is exactly what prevented the Scuderia at Silverstone.
According to the results of the British Grand Prix, Leclerc took 9th place, his partner Carlos Sainz – 10th. In Maranello, they are modernizing the SF-23, trying to increase the speed of the machine, but so far it has not been possible to solve the problems of sensitivity to the effects of wind.
“Everything is going in the right direction, but when there is a strong wind, like Sunday at Silverstone, one of our biggest weaknesses comes to the fore,” RacingNews365 quoted LeClair as saying. “But we are still moving forward. In theory, the Hungaroring suits our car a little better, but it seems every weekend has the potential to surprise one team or another.
All in all, we’ll see how it turns out. We understand the circumstances in which we can have problems – unfortunately this was exactly the case at Silverstone. There we understood that the weekend would not be easy. On Saturday everything went well, in line with our expectations, but on Sunday the situation turned out to be worse than we expected, and we know what it has to do with.
Windy weather is a serious factor, it affects us greatly. Probably our car suffers from this more than any other. Stability problems start in situations like this, although it was even worse in this respect last year, and at the end of the season we have made significant progress.
I have no doubt that we will work it out, but it will take some time before the new parts are made and the engineers find the best solution. But we already see that the right steps are being taken and we just have to keep working.”
