Oscar Piastri is happy with Daniel Ricciardo’s return

For the first time since 2013, two Australians will start a Formula 1 race – Daniel Ricciardo will join Oscar Piastri for his first Grand Prix since his return to the championship. Oscar was 11-12 years old when he watched races in his youth with Daniel and Mark Webber, who by the way is now pursuing a McLaren debutant career.

Oscar Piastri: “I’m very happy that Daniel is back, it’s great! It is rare that in Formula 1 there are two representatives of our country, which has a much smaller population than Europe.

When we talk about the recent race at Silverstone, I remember it especially with satisfaction when we compare it with the results of previous stages of the season. I won’t say finishing in 4th place upset me, it would be a bit of an exaggeration.

Had a safety car not appeared on track, it remains to be seen what the outcome of the British Grand Prix would have been. But I managed to fight at the front, which made me and the whole team very happy. It was a reward for all the efforts she puts in, and now we have to try to keep this high level.

For quite a bit of the race I even thought I could finish in the top three, but I hope I still get chances like that. I think the McLaren car has become much faster than at the start of the season, although not all shortcomings have been eliminated and work on the modernization must continue.

We can’t say the MCL60 has completely transformed, but we really liked the track at Silverstone, with its fast corners. In Hungary, the speed is much lower, so let’s see what we can do here, but we try to remain optimistic. I’m not sure if we’ll be able to qualify for the podium, but we’ll try to get back up to fairly high positions.
