Bottas: The challenge for Saturday is to qualify for the final

Alfa Romeo drivers were among those who actively worked on the Hungaroring even in the first session, despite the rain, to learn more about the car’s behavior on medium tyres.

The second session was mainly devoted to finding the optimal settings for the C43, because the car received a whole series of updates in the previous stage and it is important to check their work on different tracks.

Valttery Bottas (7th): “In the second session we worked harder on the track compared to the first practice session, when we could only do a few laps due to the fact that it was interrupted twice by red flags.

The medium tires seem to work well on our car, the C43 is stable on the track and that is important on the Hungaroring. In general, we can say that the day was positive in terms of information gathering.

Of course, as always, the main task for tomorrow is to get to the final of qualifying, the more it seems that the configuration of this circuit suits our car better.

We still have work to do and we have an important session ahead of us tomorrow. Qualifying promises to be interesting given that it will be run under the new rules and I am already looking forward to it. Tonight we will be looking for fine adjustments to prepare Saturday as efficiently as possible.

Guanyu Zhou (9th): “I’m happy with the car today, despite the conditions that meant we couldn’t work systematically on the track until the second practice session. It seems that everything is going in the right direction so far, although it is of course difficult to predict how tomorrow’s qualifying will go.

Judging by the results of Friday’s practice, we are in better shape than at Silverstone. But it will be interesting to see how our car will perform tomorrow on hard tires in the first part of qualifying – no one knows yet.

Since everyone will be on the same compound, I foresee difficulties, so during the third practice it will be necessary to work hard to make the car work optimally – this will allow it to fully develop its potential in qualifying.
