Riccardo: I feel like I never left

Daniel Ricciardo set the fourteenth fastest time in the second practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix and lost less than five tenths of a second to teammate Yuki Tsunoda (4th). After the session, the Australian rider said there is still work to be done, but initial impressions are positive.

Yuki Tsunoda (4th): “Overall a positive day, the second practice proved to be particularly productive. The car has a good pace, although we don’t know what programs the rest of the teams were working on – I don’t think everyone attacked at full strength.

I am happy with my fourth time. The car is well balanced, but let’s see how it behaves tomorrow on different tire compounds. I am optimistic and hope that we will reach the final of qualifying.”

Daniel Rickardo (14th): “I got comfortable behind the wheel pretty quickly, but 95% comfortable. I feel I can get the missing interest tomorrow. At least get close to a hundred.

Today I wasn’t able to put in a fast lap, but I was starting to feel the limit of the machine. If I can do it tomorrow, I’ll be happy.

At this point, the positions in the protocol are not particularly relevant. Today it was my job to get familiar with the car. It all seemed pretty familiar to me. Sure, there’s a lot of attention to me, but as soon as I put the helmet on and got in the car, I felt like I hadn’t gone anywhere, which is great.
