Sunny. Dry. Air +24…25С, route +44С
It was warm and windy on the Hungaroring on Saturday morning. For the first time there were more fans in Verstappen’s orange colors than Ferrari’s red uniforms and there were almost no Finnish flags, although this was their favorite stage before.
Tires overheated. Finding the settings after a cool Friday was not easy, but working in such conditions in Hungary was quite familiar to everyone.
This is a hot stage, which caused grip problems. The tires are not ready for such conditions, as are the brakes, but the Hungarian stage is unique in terms of weather and has almost no influence on the power balance.
Previously, the Hungarian Grand Prix preceded the summer break. Everyone was preparing new items for the Spa – and this leg takes place next week.
The Hungaroring has wide safety zones. Several drivers had their lap times cut because they went off track, Magnussen hindered Hamilton on a fast lap, everything else went smoothly.
Protocol was led by Lewis Hamilton, who had passed the circle for 1:17.811, but the showdown continues in qualifying.
