Both Alfa Romeo drivers made it to the final of qualifying in Hungary – Guanyu Zhou showed the fifth fastest time and Valtteri Bottas – the seventh …
Guanyu Zhou: (5th): “I’m very happy to start the race in fifth place. We guessed right with the settings, I was comfortable in the car from the first lap, but still I didn’t expect to finish first in the first part of qualifying. It’s great that this pace was maintained throughout all three sessions.”
Valttery Bottas (7th): “I’m proud of our team and amazed at how well we performed today! We saw that there are real chances to get into the top ten, but fifth and seventh place exceeded our expectations.
We were fast in qualifying on different rubber compounds, we were able to unlock the potential of our cars. It seems that the Hungarian track suits us.
Although the work is only half done, points will be awarded on Sunday, but on a circuit where overtaking is difficult, good starting positions will help in the race. In the meantime, thank you to the team for the work done.”
