Athletistic/Formula-1. Just 10 races into the 2023 F1 season, AlphaTauri driver Nick de Vries lost his seat after a disastrous start. De Vries was sacked by Red Bull boss Helmut Marko, who had publicly criticized the Dutch driver’s disappointing results on several occasions.

His place will be taken by Red Bull reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo, who will return to the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 23. Ricciardo has made a surprise return to F1 after being fired from McLaren last season.

In the fast-paced world of Formula 1, a driver is considered as good as his previous racing record. Even a driver like Ricciardo, who has 8 F1 wins, lost his place with one year left on his contract. Formula 1 teams are ruthless in evaluating a driver’s performance and quickly end relationships if a driver fails to make the most of the technique provided.

With the departure of Nyck de Vries, there are several other drivers on the current grid who are set to be let go if they don’t show their worth by the end of the season. Let’s take a look at three other pilots who find themselves in dangerous situations.

#3 Valtteri Botta

Given Valtteri Bottas’ current form, it’s hard to believe he’s ever challenged and surpassed Lewis Hamilton during his time at Mercedes. Having won 10 races in his career, Bottas has shown no hint of his past this season.

The Finnish driver got off to a great start last season for Alfa Romeo, but this season he hasn’t even managed to beat his team-mate. At the wheel of an Alfa Romeo C43, Zhou Guangyu has repeatedly beaten the experienced Finn.

While Bottas has expressed a desire to stay with the team for the foreseeable future, such performances would hurt his holdings in the F1 driver market.

#2Logan Sargent

Williams driver Logan Sargent got off to a shaky start to his first F1 season with teammate Alex Albon well ahead of him. Albon helps the team climb out of the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship with an incredible qualifying performance backed by excellent race pace.

Sargent failed to keep pace with his teammate. Rumors that Mick Schumacher is ready to replace him at any time put a lot of pressure on the runner.

However, all is not lost for the driver as he showed an improvement in his form which coincided with further improvements to his car. He finished 11th at the British Grand Prix, his best career result.

#1 Sergio Perez

Sergio Pérez started the season brilliantly, taking two wins in the first four races and declaring himself a title contender. Since then, Pérez’s season has declined, as he only managed two podium finishes in the next six races.

The Mexican driver has repeatedly failed to qualify despite having the fastest car. Helmut Marko has openly criticized the Red Bull driver, asking him to step in and stop dreaming of the title.

Following Nick de Vries’ departure, Sergio Pérez will be on high alert as it signals that Daniel Ricciardo could threaten his seat despite being contracted until 2024. If Perez’s apparent decline continues, Marco’s patience will soon run out.
