Kevin Magnussen: It’s important to wait for the car updates

In Hungary, Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen finished fourteenth and seventeenth respectively. Haas noted that they have done the maximum, but the battle for higher positions will only become possible after the car is updated.

Nico Hulkenberg (14th): “We were not good enough in the race, but this is not news – we expected such a result. To be honest, today we looked even better than in several previous races, so I’m not very upset. In addition, it was one of the most difficult circuits of the season for us, consisting of tight corners – in the course of the circle neither the tires nor the drivers have a break.

We didn’t finish that far from the guys who scored points, so the result is even a bit better than I expected.”

Kevin Magnussen (17th): “I’m not happy with the result – a disappointing day for us. I had no speed on the hard tyres, although I had to do two long stints on this compound. Maybe it was worth having a third pit stop.

We try to draw conclusions from every race, so we will try to do something different in Belgium. It is important to keep calm and wait for the machine to update.”

Gunter Steiner, Team boss: “Before the race we knew that in warm conditions we would get a lot of rubber degradation. The team had a difficult race, but I think we did our best. At the moment these are our options.

There is nothing we can do but keep improving the car in an effort to solve problems. A lot of teams have improved and we haven’t, but the team is working on it.”
