In Hungary, Max Verstappen took another victory, making Red Bull the first team in history to win 12 Grands Prix in a row.
Max Verstappen (1e): “Finally we got off to a really good start, I’m very happy because we worked on it for a long time and today we started well.
I understood that I took the inside lane so that I could take the lead in the 1st corner, but since the car was running with a full tank of fuel, I was blown a little to the left under hard braking, but luckily everything was running as it should.
In general, everything was great because after that I could race the way I wanted, especially because the car was very fast. I think there were some balance issues in one lap qualifying, but maybe it helped us somehow today because the car worked great on every rubber and allowed us to save tyres. That’s why we managed to create such a big hole.
12 wins in a row is an incredible achievement for our team, the second year in a row we are performing very successfully – let’s hope we can keep the momentum going for a long time. In addition, it is always fun to work with such a team, because we always strive for more. And today’s Grand Prix was just perfect!
Sergio Perez (3rd): “I was fighting for 2nd place, but unfortunately I had to make up a lot of laps, and the problem is that some had to be ahead outside the main section, and this led to a loss of time. Closer to the finish I almost recovered, but it was already too late.
However, in my opinion, the team chose a great tactic and we managed to show a great result. Such days, of course, help to restore confidence in their abilities, and now I’m going to climb the podium in all the remaining races.
When I was ahead of Oscar Piastri, that episode was extremely sharp, everything was on point, because the tires of our cars were about the same condition, and on fresh tires I tried to catch up with him. There was contact between our cars first in Turn 1 and then in Turn 2, so everything was literally on the limit, but it was an example of a really tough battle on track.
