There has been no German Grand Prix on the calendar since 2021 and holding the race in 2020 was a necessary measure when many circuits were inaccessible due to the corona virus. Sebastian Vettel regrets not being able to participate in German circuits, where Formula 1 has a long history and a large audience.
The podium is expensive, the promoters of the German Grand Prix don’t have that kind of money and the costs cannot be offset by selling tickets. The Germans’ hopes may be linked to the arrival of Porsche and Audi in 2026, but Vettel is unsure if he will last that long.
Sebastian Vettel: “Germany simply cannot afford the Grand Prix as much as other countries that are now organizing the race. Other European regions are also going through difficult times. Even such a traditional race like Monaco is no longer untouchable, like Spa.
Money determines everything. Too bad there’s no Germany on the calendar, it would be a shame to lose Belgium or Spain – there’s been a lot of talk about that lately. If these countries can’t afford that much, they disappear from the calendar. And it will be a sad day for Formula 1.”
