In Hungary, AlphaTauri rider Yuki Tsunoda commented on the dismissal of Nick de Vries from the team. According to Yuki, the team should have slowed down and given de Vries more time to prove himself.
Yuki Tsunoda: “I think he should have been given more time. He spent only ten races, some of them on tracks unknown to him. I know Red Bull’s position, I know their arguments, but I still think he deserved to play, at least until the summer break.
I texted Nick that I appreciated him and he sent me a really nice message back too. We are friends with him, he is a pleasant and polite person. I respect him for many things.”
Asked if he considers the AlphaTauri to be the slowest car in the pack, Yuki said: “I think so. It is clear to me that we are certainly not eighth or ninth. The situation is not the best, but it is good that we are adding new items every race, including this stage. I hope we will take at least a small step forward in every race.”
