This year, Red Bull will be using its own Honda engines as it builds the infrastructure for its own Red Bull Powertrains division, where ex-Honda engineers, Mercedes and others will design and manufacture powertrains by 2026.
In Melbourne, Red Bull Racing chief Christian Horner said the first powerplant of his own production Red Bull will be tested before the end of this year.
Christian Horner: “In May we will move to a new base and towards the end of the year we will carry out the first bench tests of the first Red Bull engine.
Our technicians have made great progress. This is an incredibly interesting project. We have attracted phenomenal talent from all corners of the industry and are starting a new chapter. And while it may seem that 2026 is still a long way off, it is in fact much closer than it seems.
