Famen: What happens does not affect the results of the team

The unexpected resignation of all Alpine F1’s top managers, which became known during the days of the Belgian weekend, should not affect the team’s results, but will only benefit it in the long run – this is the gist of the comments that Bruno Famen gives now. It is he, Alpine’s vice president, who is in charge of running the team during the transition period.

On the one hand, the dissatisfaction of the management of the Renault group is understandable, because his factory team is clearly not showing the results expected this season; on the other hand, Alpine F1 was without leaders, which is unlikely to improve the efficiency of its work.

However, Famen is convinced that this is the right decision.

“Of course we understand that changes are needed, and now we need to analyze the current situation and monitor its development,” he said, taking part in the F1 Nation podcast. – But there is absolutely no rush, and what happens will not affect the current results of the team. On the contrary, everything we do is aimed at improving these results in the medium term and in the future.

It’s always important for the team to work together and as I’ve explained, the idea is to get the best out of all the people who work at Enstone. In the end we decided to say goodbye to Alan Permain and Otmar Szafnauer because the team was not close enough.

This decision was not made three months ago. But it is part of a process where we are figuring out what needs to be done to make the team better so that we can move on to the second phase of the Alpine F1 project…”
