Mark Webber is proud of Oscar Piastri’s success

Mark Webber is now pursuing the career of Oscar Piastri, regarded as one of the brightest talents of the new generation, and is rightly proud of his protégé, who has recently achieved good results on behalf of McLaren.

Oscar earned his first points in his third race, and it was his home Australian Grand Prix, finishing 4th in Great Britain, scoring 4th in qualifying in Hungary and finishing 5th in the race, and earning 7th in Belgium points for 2nd place in Saturday’s sprint , only on Sunday he was unlucky – at the start he could not avoid contact with Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari, which led to retirement.

“I think the past few weeks have been an extremely successful period for the whole McLaren team,” the former driver shared in an interview with the championship’s official website. – The level of results is getting higher and higher and there is nothing to be modest about.

I think many have already forgotten that Oscar didn’t race last year, so at the beginning of the season he needed time to “roll in”. At the same time, he is a Formula 1 debutant, has never participated in this championship and has almost not driven for the past 15 months.

His team-mate, Lando Norris, is an exceptional driver, a first-class professional, we know that, but Oscar is already catching up with him. Of course we are all very proud of him. For a rookie he is doing incredibly well, but knowing him, I have no doubt that he will continue to work hard and strive for better results.

After 12 races of the season, Piastri has 34 points on his account and is 11th in the individual standings, while his partner is 8th with 69 points.
