Alunni Bravi: I expect James Key to help the team

In September, James Key will start in Hinwil, Switzerland as Technical Director of Alfa Romeo. The general manager of the Sauber Group, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, spoke about the tasks that the British engineer will have to solve as a priority.

Of course, first of all, he and his subordinates should try to improve the efficiency of the C43 chassis, as the team is trying to fight for 7th place in the constructors’ championship, but so far lags behind closest rivals – Williams and Haas F1.

“James Key’s list of priorities is to improve machine efficiency and help Andreas Seidl form the engineering department,” said Alunni Bravi. – The team is currently undergoing a transformation and the arrival of James Key is very valuable to us, as he not only has experience as a technical director.

He held various technical positions in the teams he worked with before. Therefore, I expect that he will be able to contribute to the common goal, which is to help the team rise to a higher level and move forward.”

In Hinwil, James Key will once again join forces with Andreas Seidl, who he worked with at McLaren.

“When we talk about the leadership of the team, we are first and foremost talking about Andreas Seidl,” added Alunni Bravi. – He is our leader, the head of the whole group of companies. I am one of those who work in this team, along with the rest of the 600 specialists, who try to do my part, including supporting Andreas and helping him. It is he who leads the Sauber Group and determines the direction of its development.

At one of the earlier stages of his career, James Key had already worked at Sauber as technical director, this was from 2010 to 2012, and it was on the C31 car created under his leadership that Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi made it to the top four times in the 2012 troika.
