In Barcelona, the first day of Formula 2 testing is over and in the afternoon session only Campos driver Ralf Boschung was able to complete a lap faster than 1:28.
It was wet and cold in the morning, most of the time the riders were in the pits. Only two riders completed more than 30 laps – and Boschung became the leader in the distance covered.
The first session was interrupted by red flags three times – first Williams came to a stop in corner two, then Lawson stopped in tenth and later Bolukbashi cut the barrier after crashing into corner ninth.
During the day the weather improved, after the morning +14 it got warmer to almost 20C, the riders were able to ride on soft tires, which affected the results.
In the second session, two red flags appeared – when Vips hit the barriers in the third corner, Sargent stopped the car in the first corner.
There will be further testing tomorrow.
