Toto Wolff answered several questions from fans, mostly not directly related to his work, and among them were, as he rightly pointed out, “pointless”. However, the head of the Mercedes team responded to that.
Q: You look surprisingly young – are you sharing a secret?
Toto Wolff: The problem is that I don’t look so young anymore, even my wife tells me about it. In general, in the morning and evening I wash my face with cool water – a hairdresser once advised me, because it naturally tightens the skin of the face.
Question: What advice would you give to young Toto Wolff from the standpoint of current experience?
Toto Wolff: I would simply advise myself to always look at the world with wide eyes and to use all the opportunities that life offers.
Q: What is the most difficult thing in the job of the head of the Formula 1 team? And what quality do you consider most important for a leader?
Toto Wolff: The most difficult thing is to “juggle” all the main components of this work – this is racing, everything related to the rules of the sport, negotiations with sponsors, the ability to see the long term and look into the future. It is very difficult to find the right balance between all these areas.
And most importantly, you must have a genuine interest in people, you must enjoy communicating and interacting with them. Personally I like it a lot.
Q: How many headphones have you broken?
Toto Wolff: I broke them several times, but the only time I actually destroyed them was in Saudi Arabia in 2021.
Q: What do you think of pineapple on pizza?
Toto Wolff: Pineapple on the so-called “Hawaiian” pizza – it’s a disaster! Any Italian would just be pissed off, and it’s as sinful as having a cappuccino in the afternoon.
Q: If all the championship teams had the same cars, what fruit would you like the most?
Toto Wolff: If the question is so pointless then I will say that my favorite fruit is just pineapple.
