McLaren Racing chief executive Zach Brown said the team’s goal before the end of the season is to finish second in speed.
Zach Brown: “Red Bull is an incredible team. We try to get close to Max, but every time you think you’re close, he pulls back. It’s impressive.
We want to be second in speed at the end of the season, the best of the rest – that would be very nice. There is a long way to go, but there is no doubt that we are back in the fray.
The reason for the recent progress is the hard work of our grassroots people, the designers and the production department, all in Woking and on the track. We have achieved an increase in reliability, we have an effective strategy. Modernization of aerodynamic elements has had an impressive effect. I take my hat off to our experts.
The riders get the chance to demonstrate their potential. They have already done their job well, but now, with a faster car, they look even more convincing.”
