2023 vs 2022: average finish

Comparing the intermediate results of two different seasons in Formula 1 is always difficult. Racers change teams, races take place under different conditions, a different number of stages, sometimes even different scoring systems, but in the long run these factors are not as critical and the trend is clear.

Last year thirteen Grand Prix took place before the summer break, this would be fourteen and twelve took place. We compared the situation in the championship in these seasons before the resumption of the battle after the summer break in the middle position at the finish.

The progress and decline of those who changed the team is evident. Last year’s leader was George Russell, who switched from Williams to Mercedes, and now Fernando Alonso is in first place, an average of four positions higher at the wheel of an Aston Martin than he was a year ago at Alpine. Aston Martin’s progress is also confirmed by Lance Stroll’s second-place finish, who did not switch teams.

Ferrari drivers are at the bottom of the rankings, Haas and Valtteri Bottas close the rankings, with just five points so far this season.
