Against the backdrop of glamorous stages in Miami and Las Vegas, where the average fan can’t get to because of high ticket prices, Austin race president and promoter Bobby Epstein vows to keep his Grand Prix “people’s.”
Bobby Epstein: We won’t change anything. Why do we need changes when everything already works? In Miami and Las Vegas they actively advertise their stages, but they only complement our Grand Prix.
We stick to our principles. Our stage, like many others, has its own identity. Our race is loved by ordinary fans. They call our stage “people’s race” – and we try to live up to it.
Together with the Formula 1 round, we hold concerts by famous artists, the entrance for fans with tickets is free.
Another important factor is the spectators who come to the campsites – this adds a lot to the atmosphere. Other American venues don’t have that spirit of unity.”
Last year, 440 thousand spectators visited Austin on the weekend, in 2023 the organizers hope to receive half a million.
