A week ago we talked about the strange situation that has developed around Alex Palou, the Spanish IndyCar driver for the Chip Ganassi Racing team and the series leader in the individual standings.
McLaren Racing CEO Zach Brown accused Palou of breaching obligations under the 2024 contract: he was supposed to go to Arrow McLaren, but refuses to do so, as he decided to stay with Chip Ganassi’s team.
Even then it was clear that this story had only just begun, and now it became known about her next act: the newspaper IndyStar reported that McLaren Racing and McLaren Indy have sued Alex Palow, as well as ALPA Racing USA, the company that manages affairs of the Spanish racer.
We are talking about two different lawsuits filed in the British courts last week, and McLaren is not going to force Palou to honor the contract signed in summer 2022, only wanting to refund the money allegedly paid to him in advance .
In an interview with Forbes, Zach Brown confirmed, “We have invested heavily in Alex Palou, expecting him to be with us in 2024. We trust the judiciary to hear this matter and refrain from commenting further.
Our team intends to focus on the remaining races of the IndyCar season and our plans for 2024, which will be announced as soon as they are ready.”
