Button plays in the finals of the IMSA series in Atlanta

Jenson Button will start for the first time in his career on October 11 in the traditional 10-hour race called Petit Le Mans (“Little Le Mans”) at Raceway Road Atlanta.

The 2009 World Champion joins the JDC-Miller Motorsports team and will drive the Porsche 963 sports prototype alongside Mike Rockenfeller and Thijmen van der Helm.

“I am very pleased to announce that I will be competing in the Petit Le Mans race with JDC-Miller Motorsports this year,” Button said on his social media pages. “While I’m having a lot of fun learning to drive a NASCAR series car this year, a sports prototype that develops a lot of downforce is a more comfortable technique for me, that’s for sure!

However, the Porsche 963, the IMSA Championship race and Road Atlanta are all completely new to me and I’m already looking forward to spending the weekend with my three teammates.”

Together with Rockenfeller, Button drove this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, a specially prepared NASCAR car, and the project attracted a lot of interest. There is no doubt that Jenson’s participation in the upcoming season finale of the IMSA series will also grab the attention of endurance racing fans.
