In Silverstone, construction continues on the new Aston Martin team base, consisting of three buildings with an area of 37 thousand square meters.
One building will house the design, production and marketing departments, the second will be occupied by the new wind tunnel and the third will house the administration and logistics center. Now the team works in different buildings, with some of the work being handed over to outside contractors, but once construction is complete, all production will be in one space.
The day before, a “time capsule” in the form of a Formula 1 cockpit was placed in the foundation of one of the buildings. Inside the “capsule” is an art collection, the authors of which are team fans from all over the world, a team polo shirt signed by members of the racing team, a copy of the Formula 1 regulations 2022, parts of the AMR22 machine and other memorabilia.
Team drivers Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel also contributed to the capsule. Lance put in a signed mini helmet and Sebastian a signed lingerie set. Apparently, this is the same underwear the German driver wore over his racing suit over the weekend in Miami, in protest of the FIA’s ban on jewelry and the federation’s requirement to wear only fireproof underwear.
Aston Martin plans to open the “Time Capsule” in 2072 50 years from now.
