Alonso reveals what he will do after leaving Formula 1

Fernando Alonso will continue to drive in Formula 1 next season, but will his current contract with Aston Martin be his last or will he continue his career in 2025, the Spanish driver himself does not yet know. However, Fernando told what he would do when he finally completed his achievements in Formula 1.

Fernando Alonso: “I give 99% that I will try to perform again in the Dakar rally raid. It is not correct to say that the third title in Formula 1 is a lower priority for me – it is one of my priorities, but winning the Dakar is also one of my highest priorities.

Maybe the next attempt I’ll make in eight or ten years or later, but I’ll be very happy if I can fight for the win. If I add up the victory in the Dakar to the victories in Formula 1 and endurance races, then I will think that I have really achieved something special, both as a racer and as a person. These are now the goals I have set for myself.”

At the end of 2018, Fernando left Formula 1 for two years. According to the driver, this time he was able to look at the championship from the outside and changed his way of communicating with fans after his return.

“I saw how different Formula 1 is from other racing series,” said Fernando Alonso. – The atmosphere in Formula 1 is more selfish and in a way more glamorous, but at the same time a bit fake. I have no doubt that there is more pure motorsport in Le Mans, IndyCar or Dakar.

Formula 1 is attractive in its own way, people want to come to the races and watch them on TV. Two years away from Formula 1, I also watched broadcasts on TV and started to appreciate things I didn’t like before.

The national anthem, the pilot parade, more press and TV attention – motorists hate moments like this. However, when I watched all this from my room, I realized I had missed it. The few riders who smiled a bit more than the rest seemed prettier from home. Therefore, after my return, I became more relaxed in such matters.

Now I think more about the fans, about the work of TV people, because I realized how important such things are. And two years away from Formula 1 helped me understand this.
