Alex Albon has a long-term contract with Williams and so far everything is going quite well: he has repeatedly confirmed his speed, he is rightly considered a leader in the team – he takes part in discussions on all important issues, often visits the Grove base, and he is not only concerned about this season’s results, but also about the team’s future prospects.
Unsurprisingly, James Vowles, who ran Williams this year, speaks more than highly of his driver.
“It’s really nice to hear reviews like this and to know that the person who runs the team and is involved in strengthening it trusts you,” Alex shared in an interview with The Race. – James really wants me to participate in all the processes. This is very important to me, and my participation in the work of the team is becoming more and more active.
I feel like I’m not just driving Williams cars. James is getting more and more involved in my work, I’m involved in team development discussions, and in this respect I have more things to do than I did in my time at Toro Rosso, Red Bull or my first year at Williams.
They say I’m young, but I’m not! Actually, I am already 27 years old, and it seems that this is still a young age. But in the context of Formula 1, I am not so young anymore and I am approaching the pinnacle of my career. I would say I have found a kind of balance between high level performance and the amount of experience and knowledge gained.
I have a long-term contract with Williams and as long as I can progress I will continue to play for this team. I really feel like I’m flying better than ever, but I can do better. I still want to be on the podium and win races.
What I do most is make Williams a team that I can succeed with. Although if for some reason it turns out to be difficult, then, of course, you need to think about other options. But for now I’m fully focused on working at Williams, and in a few years we’ll see how it turns out.”
