Max Verstappen: We want to win at Zandvoort

Max Verstappen arrived in good spirits for the home stage at Zandvoort. At the FIA press conference on Thursday, the Red Bull Racing driver shared his thoughts on the upcoming race weekend.

Max Verstappen: “The summer holidays turned out to have been good: I spent time with my family, rested and slept a lot. I was able to take a little break from Formula 1, although the summer break is always different from the winter, but I had enough time to rest.

In the second half of the season I will try to do exactly the same as before the break. After the break you never know how the forces on the track will be aligned. Let’s wait and see what the weather will be like this weekend, but the weather forecast promises tricky conditions. At least we have a fast car and if we manage to put all the parts together we can have a great weekend.

We just want to get the fastest car to each track as possible. It’s no secret that we want to win this weekend too, because Zandvoort is one of my favorite circuits.”

Asked if he would prefer a tighter battle on track or if he is happy with the current lead over his rivals, Max said: “I wouldn’t mind if the races were easy, but races like that only find one or twice per season.

We riders want the fight to be more exciting, so do I, but of course you are more relaxed when you win with such a lead.”
