On Thursday, Haas announced a contract extension for Kevin Magnussen and teammate Nico Hulkenberg for one more season. The Dane commented on the news at the FIA press conference in Zandvoort.
Kevin Magnussen: “I am already in my seventh season with the team. It seems that a lot of time has passed, but I am very happy to continue the cooperation. We know we have a lot of work to do next year to make progress. I know the team well. Haas has become my home in Formula 1 and I am happy to spend another season with them.
The negotiations turned out to be quite easy; with Gene and Gunther it’s always like that. It didn’t take long to discuss the details of the contract, which is good.”
When asked if Haas has what it takes to return to the mid range in 2024, Kevin said: “I think so. The battle is so fierce that every team believes it can do it. Some have managed to make serious progress this season, and I think we can too.
Our team is in very good shape now, but the car lacks speed. However, we have all the necessary ingredients to take the next step forward. I think we can do it, probably not this year, but next year we should have a good chance.”
