Daniel Ricciardo is, as they say, in a special position this year, because he was free to use his time for almost the entire first half of the season and as a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing did not go to all Grands Prix. Price.
This allowed him to get some rest, so now that he’s back in action as an AlphaTauri rider, he doesn’t even need summer vacation that much and he mainly trained hard in August.
Daniel Riccardo: “I had quite a long rest period at the beginning of the year so, unlike everyone else, I didn’t need a summer break and I understand them well. So now, when everyone was resting, I had a good opportunity to catch up with them a little bit.
Of course I also had a good time apart from racing, but at the same time I was of course more active with physical training than usual during the summer holidays. But now that the second chapter of my career begins, I already look at things a little differently, and now I have a very correct psychological state.
I have a serious attitude, although I am not going to put myself under unnecessary pressure, but I just have certain tasks before me and I want to achieve certain goals. The bottom line is that I want to show high speeds.
Of course I’m glad to be back in the driver’s seat two races before the summer break because the more standard approach would be to do it after. But I did two Grands Prix, then I had time to analyze everything, and now I’m back to work, knowing what to look for in preparation for the weekend ahead. So it all worked out for me.
Overall, I can say that I am happy that the team decided to immediately throw me in the water so that I could swim on my own, which allowed me to prepare much better for the second half of the season. Looking back on the Hungarian weekend, I could hardly wish for more. I was satisfied with the results and our work.
Then at Spa I made a mistake in Friday’s qualifying and I had to pay for it, but the approach we took was correct, except maybe I overdid it a bit. But on Saturday I was quite happy with how I qualified for the sprint and the sprint itself.
In general everything is going well, I have a confident attitude and I am ready to continue working.”
