Not all podium promoters and investors are happy with how the 2023 season is going in Formula 1. After the rule change, they were promised a tight fight from start to finish, but there is no intrigue in the battle for leadership.
At a meeting with Liberty Media investors, Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali said Max Verstappen’s excellence deserves respect, arguing that these are the rules of the game in the sport.
Stefano Domenicali: “I think it’s important now to celebrate Max Verstappen’s incredible work. You see how much his opponents are inferior to him – this indicates that Max is doing an excellent job and deserves the highest praise.
Such dominance has always been part of Formula 1. These are the rules of the game. I am sure in the coming years other teams will finalize the machines and the gap will narrow, but when someone makes great progress we should celebrate these achievements.
In some markets, especially new ones, its performance leaves a huge mark. People see that if a driver can win that many races then he really is a true leader. There is nothing negative in this area. Looking back, I would say that throughout the history of Formula 1 it has always been that way.”
