The second part of the season begins and at the moment the teams are already switching to preparation for next year’s championship, but they continue to bring certain new items to the races.
Particularly in Zandvoort, six of them presented technical updates that should contribute to more efficient operation of the chassis on the difficult Dutch circuit. However, only a few of them are large-scale.
Red Bull racing
The RB19 car, which the championship leaders had prepared for the Dutch Grand Prix, featured the only novelty worth mentioning: in particular, the team’s engineers improved the additional rear wing by making adjustments to the installation angles of the individual elements .
This is done to optimize the airflow pressure distribution on the wing and increase its efficiency.
Mercedes
The Brackley team brought to the 13th stage of the season three new items designed to increase the speed of the W14. Modernized elements such as bottom edges, air intakes of the side pontoons and an extra rear wing.
Changes to the underbody aim to reduce the efficiency loss of the aerodynamic body kit by improving airflow characteristics directed towards the rear of the car and increasing downforce in this part of the chassis.
On the side pontoons, the configuration of the rear-view mirror pillars has been changed, which on the one hand increases the strength of their design, on the other hand also positively affects the flow to the rear of the W14, making it more efficient to the rear wing.
McLaren
On the MCL60 machines, the configuration of the rear wing and additional rear wing has been slightly modified to take into account the characteristics of the Zandvoort circuit.
Aston Martin
Above all, talk about the whole range of updates presented by the Aston Martin team – they related to various components of the floor and the diffuser. The aim of the improvements is to achieve a more coordinated operation of these parts of the aerodynamic body kit and, in general, to increase their efficiency, as they are largely responsible for creating downforce.
hare
On the machines of Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, a significantly modernized front wing appeared in combination with a nose cone. On the wing, the main plane, deflectors and other components have become different, and all this is designed to improve the characteristics of the flow directed from the wing to the center of the machine.
The American team hopes that these measures will help solve the problem of increased rubber degradation during the race.
In addition, taking into account the characteristics of the Zandvoort circuit, the configuration of the rear brake ducts has been changed to increase the efficiency of their cooling.
AlphaTauri
On AT04 machines, the rear wing end plates have been upgraded, which should increase the efficiency of this part of the aerodynamic body kit as a whole.
The Ferrari, Alpine, Alfa Romeo and Williams teams have not reported any updates.
