On Friday, the Haas F1 drivers kept their usual positions at the end of the protocol, but were satisfied with the behavior of the modified car…
Kevin Magnussen (17th): “New items have improved the situation and positively influenced the performance of the car. There’s still a lot of work to be done, and while I don’t think it will allow us to seriously improve, we’ve taken a step forward – and I’m happy about that.
While in Zandvoort we don’t have enough speed, but there is always an opportunity to add. Let’s see what eventually happens.”
Nico Hulkenberg (18th): “The second practice went smoothly, no real problems, but the car lacks speed.
After the incident during the first practice, the car was not damaged. A little more speed, wind and brake balance shifted to the rear – and I took off.
Luckily it’s an old fashioned gravel track so the car wasn’t damaged, but I lost some time on the track.”
Gunther Steiner, team leader: “The most important thing is that we have completed the program of the day on Friday. After analyzing the telemetry, we will evaluate the effectiveness of the new products, but so far we are clearly not satisfied with the speed in the first and second training.
We’ve tried different machine configurations, maybe we should just put everything together. We need to better understand what the new details have brought us and start again tomorrow morning.”
