Daniel Ricciardo had an accident during his second training session at Zandvoort on Friday, after which he was sent to a local hospital for examination, which revealed that he had a wrist injury.
Team AlphaTauri said in a statement that he cannot continue his duties and will be replaced by Liam Lawson, Red Bull’s reserve driver, for the remainder of the weekend.
“Following today’s second practice crash at Zandvoort, where Daniel Ricciardo crashed into the barrier at Turn 3, he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
An x-ray confirmed that he had broken the bones in his left wrist and that the injury would prevent him from continuing his duties. Therefore, he will be replaced by Liam Lawson, the team’s reserve driver, for the remainder of the weekend.
We wish Daniel a speedy recovery. Further information will be announced as it becomes available.”
