Yuki Tsunoda: I didn’t expect such a result

Yuki Tsunoda showed good pace in practice at Zandvoort to finish in fifth place on Friday, while his teammate Daniel Ricciardo suffered an accident and injury, meaning he will be replaced by Red Bull Racing reserve driver Liam Lawson for the rest of the weekend and AlphaTauri. But when the Japanese rider commented on the results of the day, he didn’t know this yet.

Yuki Tsunoda (5e): “I didn’t see what happened there and didn’t have time to watch the video, so I didn’t even know the accident was so serious.

It remains only to pray, but let’s see how everything goes, because Daniel’s health is now the most important thing.

Talking about my result, I did not expect such a result. Daniel was on hard tires at the start of the second session, and I was on soft ones, and the car showed quite well on that. As long as we are in a strong position we have reason to be optimistic, and the AT04 runs particularly well on short lap sequences.

It takes a while to work on the pace on long runs, but overall we are positive about Friday’s results.”
