Lewis Hamilton Car looks competitive

Lewis Hamilton showed the fourth fastest time in the second practice of the Dutch Grand Prix, lost three tenths of a second to the leader and was satisfied with the speed of the car. Despite the fourteenth fastest time on the scoresheet, his Mercedes teammate George Russell also praised the team’s potential this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton (4th): “I had a great day. In the morning I woke up looking forward to getting behind the wheel again, and from the first lap I felt we had a good starting point to work.

The first training was successful and for the second we adjusted the settings. I’m not sure if they’ll let us add that, so we’ll study everything carefully in the evening. Overall the car looks more competitive on this track so we want to keep the momentum going. Let’s see if we can get more out of her tomorrow.”

George Russell (14th): “It’s great to be back behind the wheel after a few weeks out of the cockpit. Overall we look good at this track: we have a high race pace and have the potential to improve in qualifying.

While my times in today’s protocol aren’t too stellar, we had one of the best Fridays. I look forward to the rest of the weekend with optimism.”
