After considering the circumstances of the incident during qualifying, Carlos Sainz interfered with Oscar Piastri when leaving the pits, the stewards fined the Ferrari team 5,000 euros and the driver was given an official warning (racing).
The stewards listened to the driver of car #55 (Carlos Sainz), the driver of car #81 (Oscar Piastri), team representatives and reviewed data from positioning systems and video recordings.
After leaving the pits, Sainz immediately switched to the racetrack before the second corner. This forced Piastri to dodge the collision, sending him partially onto the grass. According to the stewards, it was a potentially dangerous maneuver, in which the accident could only have been avoided thanks to Piastri’s actions.
The stewards listened to the radio conversations of Bottas, who left the pit lane just before Sainz, and were alerted to Piastri’s approach. Sainz, on the other hand, was only warned by the team not to cross the white line when exiting the pit lane, and did not hear Piastri until he stood next to him.
