On a drying track in Zandvoort, Fernando Alonso made it to the final and qualified fifth, while his teammate Lance Stroll remained eleventh…
Fernando Alonso (5th): “Qualifying proved difficult – on both wet and dry track we can be satisfied with fifth place in such conditions. There is no room for error on a narrow track. In such conditions you don’t know how the track conditions have changed in the seven minutes you spent in the pits. You can only guess, but today we performed well.
It seems that our innovations have worked. Thank you to all the team members who worked tirelessly to get them ready for this weekend.”
Lance walk (11th): “Today the car was fine, it’s a pity that wasn’t enough to reach the final. The reason is that we left too early for the last lap, when the track dried up quickly.
I think we are in good shape for tomorrow’s race. AMR23 is competitive, I was able to work on a difficult track. The results are very tight, it’s difficult to overtake here, but if we make the most of our chances in the race, we can earn some important points for the team.”
