Haas’ best result in qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix was Nico Hulkenberg’s fifteenth place. His teammate Kevin Magnussen did not respond to the second part and set the eighteenth fastest time. The Dane said he damaged a new front wing in the third session of free practice and there were no spare parts.
Nico Hulkenberg (15th): “I think we had a great qualifying and did everything we could. Under such circumstances it was easy to make a mistake, but we did everything right. However, we just didn’t have the pace. The same picture was yesterday.
Tomorrow we are ready for any development of events and will attack with all our might. We’ll see what we can do, but I don’t have the highest expectations for the race.”
Kevin Magnussen (18th): “After I damaged the car a bit in the third session of free practice and didn’t do a single lap on the wet track, I was ready for a result like that in qualifying. I did everything in my power, but it wasn’t enough to get into the second part.
In the third practice I damaged the new front wing. Unfortunately we ran out of spare which didn’t help either. But I will try to do my best in the race.”
Gunther Steiner, Team Principal: “Obviously a disappointing day for us for a number of reasons. We didn’t have enough time to prepare, and we didn’t have enough speed when needed.
After a day like this I can only say that it can be better. Let’s see what we can do to better prepare for the race.”
