Zach Brown: I don’t advise Lando…

McLaren hopes Lando Norris can get ahead of Max Verstappen at the start – if he succeeds at Silverstone, why not try repeating the same maneuver at Zandvoort. But if it doesn’t work out, the McLaren driver will try to finish second. However, Zach Brown suggests not getting ahead of the curve and seeing how things play out.

Zach Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing: “Hopefully Lando can make Max worry and ideally get ahead of him, as was the case at Silverstone. But at the Grand Prix distance, Verstappen is capable of incredible pace, so our job is to fight the rest of the opponents, but if Max makes a mistake, or if he has problems, or if we manage to get him tactically outsmart, then we will. do everything in our power. But the pace alone makes it difficult to stay ahead of him.

I’m not giving advice to Lando, it’s he who tells me how he’s going to act. But knowing him, I assume he will try to take the lead in the 1st turn, if the opportunity arises. If not, he will be in second position – he is a very intelligent rider.

What the tactics will be is not quite clear yet, so let’s listen to what the riders will tell us, let’s see how the rivals will act. Normally we know what the possible tactics options are, but today we are not sure about anything and that will only become clear during the race.
