Esteban Ocon: We will try to achieve more in Monza

At Zandvoort, Esteban Ocon failed to get out of the first part of qualifying, but recovered in the race to take one point for tenth. Next weekend in Monza, the Alpine rider wants to get even better.

Q: How do you rate the results of Sunday’s race for the team at Zandvoort?
Esteban Ocon: We earned points and a two-car podium, so the weekend was very successful. The team is happy that they have started the second half of the season strongly. Pierre and I played well in the race and scored important points that will give impetus to the coming weekend.

Of course, there are some things that need to be analyzed and understood, because several opportunities and an opportunity to earn points have been missed on my part. All in all a positive weekend and we will continue to attack as hard as possible to move forward.

Q: What do you expect from the upcoming races?
Esteban Ocon: It’s no secret that before the summer break we weren’t in the positions we wanted to be. My priority is to drive the best I can and work hard with the team to improve the car.

At Zandvoort we have made sure that we know how to seize opportunities when they arise. The team continues to work towards better results. The goal is to always have a consistent weekend and get the best out of the car in the remaining races. Everyone is motivated and continuing to work and we are all very excited to be back on the track this weekend in Monza.

Question: What makes the circuit in Monza so special?
Esteban Ocon: Monza, the “Temple of Speed”, a legendary and historic circuit, one of the oldest on the Formula 1 calendar. It is fundamentally different from Zandvoort and comprises only 11 corners, seven of which form three chicanes on this fast circuit .

Monza has some truly legendary corners such as the Curva Grande, Ascari and Parabolica, which are always fun to drive. Personally, I like the circuit and performances in Italy in general, because I spent a lot of time in this country as a child.

Tifosi makes the race special: you literally feel the passion of the fans. The whole team is looking forward to the start of the weekend and we will work together to achieve better results.
