Leclerc: In Monza I hope to fight for victory

Last night in Milan, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz took part in a special presentation at the Ferrari Company Store, where they made their first public appearance in a new uniform dedicated to the upcoming Italian Grand Prix.

Of course, there was a meeting with Scuderia fans, after which Carlos noted that there are more and more of them every year, and Charles promised to do everything to win in Monza, although he admitted that it would not be easy to achieve this.
Also on the website, Ferrari has shared a short video in which Leclerc sits on the simulator and talks about the main features of the classic Italian circuit.

Charles Leclerc: “So we are in Monza, on a track that will be special to me for the rest of my life. I think that connects my best memories. In Monza in 2019 I won the race in front of all the Ferrari fans and it was absolutely incredible!

The difficulty is that the cars here don’t hold the track very well all weekend, the grip is at a very low level, because they are set to minimum downforce. On the straights we accelerate to very high speeds, but we pay for that, because we go slower through the corners.

And yet I really like this track and this weekend I hope to fight for the win. The section starting from turn 7 is very fast, but then we get closer to the Ascari chicane and it’s a very technical combination of three corners.

There you have to attack the curbs, especially in the first one, but it is very difficult to do it correctly, because the car can lose its stability, and then it is difficult to cope. That’s why I prefer to shift something to the outer edge of the track there.

You have to get out of the last corner of the circle as best you can, this is very important, because then a very long straight line follows, with the stands on the left side filled with fans. I have no doubt that you will welcome Ferrari and us, so thank you for your support! See you this weekend!”
