Leclerc: The car’s problem with unpredictable behaviour

Charles Leclerc thinks Ferrari has more chance of a good result in Monza than a week ago in Zandvoort. However, the Monegask is cautious in his predictions and is unsure if the car will be fast enough to compete for the podium on the team’s home track.

Charles Leclerc: “The stage in Monza is unlike any other. Ferrari drivers receive support all over the world, but in Italy the level of this support is completely different. It was a very busy, but at the same time interesting week. I’m sure the support motivates the whole team and we can’t wait to get out on the track as soon as possible. I hope we get a good result this weekend.

New livery and racing suits? I love it, especially the retro Ferrari logo.”

Commenting on the last race in Zandvoort, which ended for him in retirement, Charles said: “Due to the damaged front wing and underbody, my car practically did not hold the track.

As for the other days of the weekend, we tried out some new settings, especially during the first practice. I think we got the results we expected, but now there’s still a lot to do to solve the car’s problems. We are now fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, but we are not fourth in speed.

The main problem is the unpredictable behavior of the car, especially on tracks that require a lot of downforce. This makes the car difficult to drive. In the same corner the balance can change considerably, so you do not know how the car will behave in the corner. We are currently working on a solution to this problem.

Chance this weekend? Monza’s characteristics are similar to Spa’s, so we need to look more competitive than Zandvoort and Hungary. However, I don’t know if this is enough to fight for the podium. I hope so, and we will do our best.”
