Sergio Perez crashed the car in the last minutes of the second practice session of the Italian Grand Prix. The Mexican rider assures that the damage is not too serious and Friday in Monza went well.
His teammate Red Bull Racing Max Verstappen showed the fifth fastest time and said that he had not yet been able to find the optimal settings.
Sergio Perez (3rd): “Coming out of the last corner, I had understeer. I tried to control the car, but I kind of hit the gravel and took off. However, the damage does not seem too serious; it could be worse. We didn’t lose anything in terms of time either, I could only drive two laps at the most.
The positive results from Friday include the fact that the car is fast and that I feel comfortable behind the wheel. I think we are in good shape this weekend. Apart from my flight, we had the best Friday in a long time.”
Max Verstappen (5e): “During training we tried different settings for the wings, and now we have to analyze in which direction we should continue.
Finding the right settings can be tricky in Monza and for me the training could have gone a little better. The second practice was constantly interrupted, which made it not easy to find a rhythm. However, I’m sure we’ll find the optimal settings, but this will have to work.
