Valtteri Bottas: Friday didn’t go well

On the first day of work at the Monza circuit, the Alfa Romeo team encountered software problems that affected both cars. As a result, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou lost some time in the first practice session, but the team’s specialists discovered the problems and managed to catch up in the second session.

It is important that the drivers give the engineers enough information about the performance of the upgraded C43 front suspension, and this will help the team better prepare for tomorrow’s qualifying.

Valttery Bottas (12th): “It is a special pleasure to perform for many of our colleagues from Hinvil who came to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, and to see so many people in the Alfa Romeo team jerseys in the stands. We feel the support of the fans and hope we can thank them for this love this weekend.

Friday was not so smooth, it all started with some minor software issues that we managed to fix but lost some time in the first session.

In the course of the second training we managed to make some progress. In addition, we have another practice tomorrow and this will help to find the optimal settings suitable for qualifying.

In the evening we have to work on taking another step forward and qualifying as well as possible.”

Guanyu Zhou (19th): “Monza is our home race, there is an incredible atmosphere here, but despite all the enthusiasm we worked worse than expected today. We had a technical problem at the start of the first practice session, but overall during both sessions I felt something was wrong with the car.

We need to understand what this is related to and improve tomorrow. The team will do everything to ensure that we can have good speed in qualifying and also show good results in the race on Sunday.”
