McLaren drivers finished Friday practice in the top five, but both stressed in commenting on their results that it is necessary to keep working on finding the optimal settings.

However, we expected them to go fast on this track, their car has a good balance as it handles slow corners well.

Oscar Pistri (4th): “It seems that it is very possible to race with our car. When you get ready for Monza, the team sets the car to minimum downforce, the driving experience is not very pleasant, but it seems that our speed in one fast lap is quite high.
Of course we still have work to do, because qualifying on this circuit is not the most important thing and we also have to take into account all the factors that determine success in Sunday’s race.
I think we did well the first day of the weekend, now we need to fix some key issues and make improvements. But overall a pretty good day.”
