We wrote about the arrest of businessman Ong Beng Seng, the promoter of the Singapore Grand Prix, and the investigation into the corrupt activities of Transport Minister S. Iswaran, who took an active part in organizing the podium.
Labor Minister Tang told reporters that this would not affect the preparation and holding of the Grand Prix: “The show goes on, preparations are in full swing, there are no delays. I cannot comment on the results of the investigation until it is finalized, we are waiting for official information, but I am sure that the upcoming Grand Prix will impress everyone.”
Attendance at this year’s Singapore Grand Prix will drop by 17% due to the closure of the Bay Tribune as part of the city’s redevelopment. This time around, the night race will draw around 250,000 spectators, compared to last year’s record 302,000, but organizers hope to compensate for the smaller capacity with a rich entertainment program that will itself attract a larger crowd.
