The FIA intends to approve the Andretti Cadillac team’s application to compete in Formula 1. There is no official information on this yet, but it is expected that the federation will make a corresponding statement in the near future.
However, just the ‘green light’ from the FIA is not enough to allow Michael Andretti’s team to start. Negotiations ensue with Formula 1 owners Liberty Media, who have repeatedly expressed doubts about whether Andretti will add value to the championship.
On the other hand, it will be difficult for Formula 1 to turn down an application without breaching the EU’s strict competition laws, but Liberty Media could launch its formal team evaluation process for up to six months.
Thus, the question of Andretti Cadillac’s debut in Formula 1 is still open, even if the FIA approves the team’s application in the near future.
