Valtteri Bottas: I have long-term goals

Last year, Valtteri Bottas’ switch from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo looked like a treat for both him and the team. Losing his former pressure, Finn raced to his liking, battling rivals and often finishing in the top ten.

Subsequently, for the season, Valtteri earned 49 points and finished in 10th place in the individual standings. Now the situation is very different. After 14 stages, Valtteri only has three prize races and only six points. He no longer fights in the top ten, being there due to the convergence of rivals, and sees the future partnership with Audi as a source of motivation.

Valtteri Bottas: “Of course I had to rethink my goals. There is nothing good if you do not have the opportunity to fight for victories, but at the same time wait even more for progress.

Right now I have long term goals that are very motivating – one day I want to return to the fight for wins and podiums. This is the motivation and desire to work with the team, work and pilot as best as possible.

This is now a long-term challenge. We are trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel and continue on the path of progress, given the exciting prospects for the team in the near future. Adapting to the current situation was not easy, but now we have accepted it. It’s time to work hard!”
